Sorakaya Halwa


Grated Bottle Gourd – 4 cups

Milk – 1 cup

Kova/Milk maid — 200gms

Ghee – 3/4 cup

Take a pan and add ghee. Fry grated bottle gourd for 5 -1o min in ghee on medium flame.

Add milk. Keep it on medium flame and fry it for sumtime by stiring occasionally. Add Kova and mix well. Fry for 1-2 minutes till it becums semi-dry and siwtch off the flame.

Garnish with fried cashews

Ravva laddoo


Ingredients :

Bombai ravva – 2 cups
Sugar – 2 cups
Milk – 3/4th cup
Ghee – 3 tbsp
Cahsew, kismiss – to garnish

1. First fry cashew and kismiss in ghee and keep it aside.
2. Now fry bombai ravva in the same pan for 3-4 min on low flame.
3. Now add sugar into the pan and mix them well.
4. Now you can switch off the stove, pour this mixture into big plate.
5. Mix fried cashew and kismiss to this mixture.
6. now keep adding little milk and make ladoos.

Note : Milk used can be cold or light warm.
Need to make laddoos by adding milk to the hot ravva and sugar mixture such that sugar gets slightly dissolved and laddo is smooth.

Badam Halwa


On account of Janmasthami , i am posting one of my favourite sweet badam halwa’s receipe today…

Ingredients :

Badam – 1 cup

Sugar – 1 cup

Milk – 1/4 cup

Ghee – 1/2 cup

Water – 1/2 cup

Ilachi – 1

Soak the badam over night and remove the skin. Grind it into a fine paste with the help of little milk.

Pour half cup of water in a vessel and boil it. Pour sugar into the boiling water and stir it for 2-3 min to make the sugar syrup.

Now take another pan and pour ghee. Add the grinded badam paste and stir it for 4-5 min on low flame. Now add milk and sugar syrup. Mix it thouroughly and cook it for 10-15min on low flame till it becomes thick.

Add elachi before turning off the stove.

Tasty badam halwa is ready.. As usual i forgot to click the pics before it got finished.

 

 

Festive Foods — Ravva kesari


I made this sweet today on occasion of karthika purnima.

Ingredients :

1 cup – upma ravva/bombayi ravva

1 1/2 cup – milk

1 cup -water

1cup – sugar

5 spoons – ghee

cashew/raisins to garnish

First fry the ravva in a pan for about 1-2 minutes on low flame with 1 tea spoon of ghee.Bring to boil milk+ water(total 21/2 cups)  in a bowl  and then add the heated  ravva to it. Stir it continuously on low flame such that there are no lumps formed. Once the rava is cooked enough and water is getting drained, add sugar to it. Stir well. cook for 2 minutes and then add 4-5 spoons of ghee to it. Put off the stove and add fried cashews & raisins to it. Serve hot !!

Delicious ravva kesari is ready..
